On Monday September 16, 2019 at approximately 3:22 am, members of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian involved collision on Interstate 40/85 northbound near the 161 mile marker. Upon arrival, members discovered a deceased pedestrian in the far right travel lane of the interstate.
The initial investigation has determined that the victim, Deshawn Maurice Perry, 33 year old of 518 North Hardee Street Apt 5, Durham, NC 27703 had a flat tire and had pulled to the right shoulder of the roadway. It is believed that Mr. Perry had changed the tire and was in the process of gathering his tools when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. There is no suspect vehicle description or damage area to the suspect vehicle that can be provided at this time.
