With the threat of severe weather looming in Orange County due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Dorian, Orange County Schools announced early dismissal for the district Thursday.
The dismissal was posted on the Orange County Schools Twitter page at 7:31 p.m. Wednesday night.
"Due to the possibility of severe weather and hazardous conditions, Orange County Schools will dismiss 3 hours early Thursday, September 5th. After school & extracurricular activities are cancelled for tomorrow. The dismissal times: Elementary- 11:50am Middle- 12:35 pm High- 1 pm," the tweet reads.
The extracurricular events cancelled include an Orange High School varsity volleyball match against East Chapel Hill High School at 6 p.m and a Cedar Ridge varsity volleyball match at Northwood High School at 6:30 p.m.
