Orange County Rural Alliance receives $3,500 gift from Walmart

The Walmart Community Grant Program has awarded the Orange County Rural Alliance (OCRA) Meals on Wheels $3,500 in grant funds. These funds will be used to further the goals of the OCRA Meals on Wheels Program in Orange County. On the morning of Tuesday, December 10, Hillsborough Store Manager Coty Norvell met with Norma White, President of OCRA, along with OCRA Operations Director Anita Moats and Treasurer Donna Nicholais, met for a photograph commemorating the generous gift alongside the Pickup-To-Go location inside the Walmart.  

“Through the generosity of the Walmart Community Grant Program and the Hillsborough Walmart Store Manager, Coty Norvell, we can move forward to support rural seniors aging in place independently with safe homes, nutritious food, social interaction, and access to services,” OCRA President Norma White stated. “We look forward to reducing hunger, malnutrition and isolation among the rural seniors in Orange County. 

OCRA is working to increase the frequency of meal delivery to our seniors and is looking to enlist more volunteer drivers and donors. OCRA is part of the community and works in alliance with many team partners: churches, civic organizations, businesses, and governmental agencies.
