The Town of Hillsborough offices will be closed Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 24-26 to observe Christmas.
Garbage collection — Citizens whose garbage is normally picked up on Tuesdays will receive service on Monday, Dec. 23. Wednesday and Thursday routes will be served Friday, Dec. 27. Due to one of the town’s trucks being out of service, if garbage is not collected Friday, cans should be left curbside to be collected Saturday.
Brush collection — Brush collection will follow the same schedule as garbage collection.
Christmas trees — Christmas trees will be collected with brush. Trees must be removed from stands and free of any ornaments, tinsel, lights or other decorations. Trees should not be placed in trash carts and should be placed within 4 feet of the curb, 3 feet away from obstructions and not below trees or power lines.
Recycling — Orange County curbside recycling collection will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28. County waste and recycling centers will be closed Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 24-26 except for Eubanks Road and Walnut Grove Church Road facilities, which will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26. Landfill — The Orange County landfill and administrative offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25. The landfill will be open 7 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, with administrative offices being closed. Contact the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department for more information.
Rollout carts — Rollout recycling and garbage carts may be placed by the street as early as 4 p.m. the day before collection. They should be removed from streetside by 6 a.m. the day after collection.
