Orange County administrative offices will be closed Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day. Please note the following exceptions.
Curbside recycling for Wednesday, Jan. 1, will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 4. Please have your bins out by 7 a.m.
For Animal Control emergencies, including potential rabies exposures or animal bites to humans, please call 911 to be connected to our on-call Animal Control Officer. The after-hours animal drop off (night drop) will remain open and will be checked daily.
Normal operations will resume Thursday, Jan. 2.
In addition, the Town of Hillsborough offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1 to observe New Year’s Day.
Garbage collection — Citizens whose garbage is normally picked up on Wednesdays will receive service on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Brush collection — Brush collection will follow the same schedule as garbage collection.
Christmas trees — Christmas trees will be collected with brush. Trees must be removed from stands and free of any ornaments, tinsel, lights or other decorations. Trees should not be placed in trash carts and should be placed within 4 feet of the curb, 3 feet away from obstructions and not below trees or power lines.
Recycling — Orange County curbside recycling collection will take place on Saturday, Jan. 4. County waste and recycling centers will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1. Contact the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department for more information.
Landfill — The Orange County landfill and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1. Contact the Orange County Solid Waste Management Department for more information.
Rollout carts — Rollout recycling and garbage carts may be placed by the street as early as 4 p.m. the day before collection. They should be removed from streetside by 6 a.m. the day after collection.
