Emerson Talley

This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is women’s soccer striker Emerson Talley.

Entering Monday’s game at Northwood, Talley has scored seven goals in the Red Wolves’ opening six games. On March 9, Talley scored five goals in the Red Wolves’ 8-0 victory over Halifax Academy at Red Wolves Stadium. On March 12, Talley scored two goals as Cedar Ridge won its Big 8 Conference opener over Hillside 9-0. She also recorded two assists for the Red Wolves, who improved to 2-3- 1.

Last season, Talley made an instant impression for Cedar Ridge as a freshman. Talley scored 15 goals and tied for the team lead with 14 assists.

The Red Wolves finished 11-4-5 and won in the opening round of the 3A state playoffs with a 3-0 victory at West Carteret in Morehead City. Talley scored a goal and an assist for the Red Wolves in the victory over the postseason, which was the first time Cedar Ridge had won in the state playoffs since 2005.

Last spring, Talley had two hat tricks for the Red Wolves. She also had an eight point game against Bartlett Yancey on March 27, 2018, when she scored three goals and two assists.

On April 11, she scored both goals in a critical win over Northwood which helped propel the Red Wolves into the state playoffs. Last fall, Talley played with the North Carolina Fusion U-16 team, located in Greensboro. The Fusion finished 11-3-6 in 2018.
