Are you craving thick milkshakes? Cook Out may be coming to your rescue, but it may take a while. According to Orange County public records, the property at 102 Millstone Drive in Hillsborough was purchased by Cook-Out Hillsborough Road Inc. The buyers paid $331,000 to buy the property from Community One Bank out of Memphis, Tenn.
It is unknown whether the company would retrofit the existing space for its restaurant or tear it down to build a new structure. The officials with Town of Hillsborough are aware of the purchase, but said nothing has been submitted by the new property owners.
The corner location previously was home to a First Horizon Bank, and is within the Economic Development District. The 3,040-square-foot brick building was built in 2001, and is still standing. The listing’s market value was $794,000, which included the building valued at $684,000; and the land valued at $110,000. The sale was closed Sept. 7.
The News of Orange reached out to officials with Cook Out, but received no response by press time.
The Thomasville-based fast-food restaurant is best known for it’s numerous flavorful, spoon-required milkshakes. The first Cook Out opened in Greensboro in 1989. There are now close to 300 locations in more than 100 cities, although there are none in Orange County.
