COVID-19 has left many folks with hairdos doing a lot of don’ts. And even as hair salons have opened with restrictions, many people are still hesitant to venture out for a trim. Haven Salon in downtown Hillsborough is hoping to help some people brush aside those fears, and it’s collecting food at the same time.
The salon held its first outdoor haircut event last month and is planning two more, on Sunday Oct. 11 and Oct 25. Everything needed to cut hair will be out in the fresh air in the parking lot of the C3 Hillsborough building at 128 N. Churton St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hair cuts are dry and cost $35, plus an eco/safety fee of $3 per person.
Last month’s event collected three large reusable bags of food and raised $115 in cash donations. The donations will go to PORCH Hillsborough. During October, customers can receive $5 off their service when they bring at least three goods to donate, preferably non-perishable food items.
Haven Salon is at 121 N. Churton St. on the second floor.
